What is a tinnitus "victim?"

What is a tinnitus victim? Are you a tinnitus victim? What does that make you and what can you do about it?

Folks, I’ve been trying to figure out what to call myself and others who have tinnitus. I’ve tried:

  • Tinnitus patient
  • Tinnitus victim
  • Tinnitus sufferer
  • Tinnitus survivor
  • Person with tinnitus

…and none of them really fit…and the phrase “tinnitus victim” really got to me, so I looked up “victim” at dictionary.com.

Here are synonyms of “victim.”

Roget’s II: The New Thesaurus

Whoah! Are we being called “tinnitus dupes?” “tinnitus pushovers?” Well, if that’s what victim means, then I better come up with something better to call myself…you know?

How about you?
